Types of computer software? |System software.

  System software :

Such software, which establishes a relationship between hardware and application programs, especially to operate and control all the hardware activities of the computer and to complete various information processing tasks, is called system software.  These software can be divided into three main parts.

 (a) System Management Software

(b) System Support Software

 (c) System Development Software

(a) System Management Software - This software manages all the hardware, software and data resources of the computer system while executing different types of information processing jobs.  The main examples of these software are as follows:

 (1) Operating System

(2) Operating Environments

(3) Database Management System

(4) Telecommunication Monitors

(B) System Support Software :Computers provide many different types of services, so  Such operations and management are conducted through these programs.  Two main examples of these are as follows:

(1) Performance Monitors

 (2) Security Monitors

 (c) System Development Software : When we are developing any information system software or procedure or some different type of application software, then this software performs such tasks.  provide cooperation.  Its main examples are as follows:

(1) Programming Language Translator

(2) Programming Environments

(3) Computer Aided Software Engineering Packages

II. Application Software

These programs are specially designed for a specific task or to meet the information processing needs of an end user (general user).

We can divide these software into two parts

 (A) General Purpose Application Program

(B) Special Purpose Application Program

(A) General Purpose Application Program : These programs are simple information processing requirements of any one user which can be used for education, home, business, scientific  and are associated with other purposes, are made to fulfill.  Some very common examples of these are as follows

(1) Word Processing Software

 (2) Electronic Spreadsheets

(3) Database Managers

 (4) Telecommunications Graphics

(5) Integrated Packages

Such programs are classified into different parts:

 (1) Commercial Application Software

(2) Scientific and Research Application Software

(3) Art and Designing Application Software

 (4) Animative Application Software

(5) Educational Application Software

(6) Musical and Entertainment Application  Software

 ( 7 ) Medical Application Software

III .  Utility software:

Utility software assists users with system maintenance tasks, such as disk formatting, data compression, data backup, and scanning the system for computer viruses.  The data compression algorithm reduces files to their normal size, so that they take up less space on the disk.  Using the Backup Utility to Save Data on a Storage Media To make a copy.  For example, floppy disk, CD ROM, magnetic tape which can also store files offline.  Whenever a new disk is to be used with the system, it should be properly formatted by the appropriate operating system, the main components of the utility software are

(a) antivirus

 (b) file management tools

 (c) disk management tools

( d) Compression Tools

Various types of utility software

When a computer infection occurs, it has to be repaired.  Antivirus utilities are often used to repair the computer.  First of all, these utilities identify what type of virus it is.  Once the virus type has been identified and the original program is restored, their infected version is used by applying a detailed knowledge of the infection method that the virus uses.  A good antivirus utility can usually fix hundreds of types of viruses.  Co Virus Various types of scanners and antivirus software So far many types of antivirus software have been created.  Originally there were a few major scanners, which used to check the hard disk only for known viruses.  But as viruses became more efficient and complex, antiviruses also became more efficient and complex.  Various ideologies were used to make antivirus more effective and to somehow find the virus and protect the data from them.  The virus scanners given below are some of the major types of antivirus, which are used in computers nowadays.  .

1. Conventional Disk Ssoftware:

These are standard virus check programs that, run at the request of the user, check disks, directories, files or boot sectors for viruses based on the definitions of the viruses contained inside them.  They are used for protective maintenance activities or when the user believes that a virus may be present.  These are run by the user or can be run automatically by a program scheduler.

  Memory -Resident scanners:

Some antivirus software come with specialized software.  This is a common type of virus scanning program.  They work in the background (behind the scenes) while we are using the computer and automatically search for viruses based on memory activities.  These softwares are configured in such a way that it starts checking any program or disk as soon as it starts.  Such scanners offer great protection, as they detect the virus before it can cause harm.  But its disadvantage is that if we set it for each program, then we have to give enough time to check before executing it, which will slow down the work.
