 TYPES OF DIGITAL CAMERA

Digital cameras are mainly classified according to their usage, automatic and manual focus and price. The types of digital camera are described as follow:

1. Compact Digital cameras: Compact cameras are widely used cameras. Compact cameras are used for ordinary purpose and  are thus called ‘point and shoot camera’.

These are also termed as Digicams Compact cameras as the name suggest, very small in size and portable these cameras posses smaller zooms than DSLR  and Prosume cameras. The depth of the field of compact cameras is quite extended which permits objects large range to come into focus.

In addition to the automatic mode, the compact digital cameras come equipped with a number of scene modes such as landscape, portrait, sports, and fireworks. The landscape photography with the help of compact cameras is excellent.

The compact camera save pictures in JPEG ( joint photographic Experts Groups) file format. The compact cameras have a minimum 3 times zoom lens (3x zoom) and at least  12 mega pixels with these megapixels, quality picture can be enlarged to 16x 20 inch print size.

2. Live Preview Digital Cameras: A  live Preview Digital (LPD)  or conventionally Generally Live Preview Digital (CGLPD)  camera is a type of digital camera which utilizes conventionally generated digital image or live preview on a electronic screen.

This screen is a fundamental medium to frame and preview the image before taking the photograph. The term conventionally is generated means that image formed by objective lens placed over main sensor by continuous and direct projection. As s result of this projection, the screen can be in the form of Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) or Electronic View Finder (EVF).

To take a review of photographs, most live preview digital cameras have a liquid crystal display. Is rated in megapixels. This results the product of maximum dimensions of resolutions in millions.

3. Single Lens Reflex Camera: Single lens reflex (SLR) camera is a type of digital camera that typically uses a mirror and prisms system which permits the photographer to view through the lens and look exactly what will be captured.

Single which camera uses a films made of plastic, gelatin and other material to record the picture. These cameras allowed photographers to chance lens

and choose the right lens for the given shooting situation. With the twin lens reflex and the rangefinder cameras, the viewed picture could be significantly different from the final image in single lens reflex camera. While pressing the shutter button of single lens reflex camera, the mirror flips out off the light path, allowing light to pass through the light receptor and the picture to be captured.

4. Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras: Similar to traditional Single Lens Reflex ( SLR) cameras, Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras uses inter changeable  lenses and the manipulation of light. When light bounces off an objects, then the light passes through a small opening. With the help of lens, picture or image can be brought in to focus.

The picture captured with the digital sensor, which is made up of millions of photosites, are sensitive to light. The picture captured on digital sensor is transferred to a processor, which in turn creates the final image available for the display.

One of the greatest feature of digital cameras is the ability to the switches the lenses, where each lens deliver a new and invigorating view. In digital single lens reflex camera, there are telephoto lenses, wide-angles, fish eyes and many lenses are extra wide-angle lenses which distort the images in unique ways.

5. Bridge Cameras: A bridge camera or super zoom camera is a hybrid of the classic point-and shoot camera and Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera. The lens on a bridge camera is fixed and cannot be removed or replaced with a different one in the same manner that a photographer can change in a DSLR camera.

Most bridge camera is a general are larger than the basic point-and-shoot cameras, but smaller than the DSLR cameras. Bridge camera is a general name of digital camera that have same degree of manual control, a long range zoom lens and viewfinder, Bridge cameras are great for the photographers who want more control over the camera exposure settings and in some cases perhaps a no longer zoom range. These features are available in bridge camera without having to pay the higher purchases price of a DSLR camera.
